Five days for the 2 August 2027 total eclipse: Cairo for Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, then Luxor Temple for totality and the West Bank.
A representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, handles immigration and baggage with you, and transfers you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free.
A full day on the classics. The Giza Plateau holds the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple; the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest museum in the world devoted to a single civilisation, takes the afternoon.
An early breakfast and the first flight south, because today is the whole point of the trip. You go straight to Luxor Temple, in the centre of the modern town, and wait for the total solar eclipse of 2 August 2027. Totality arrives among colonnades built three thousand years before anyone could predict it to the second, which is a strange and very good place to be standing when the light goes.
After breakfast you cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs were buried beneath the Theban hills in tombs painted floor to ceiling, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built in terraces straight into the limestone cliff at Deir el-Bahari. Afterwards you fly back to Cairo.
Breakfast, check out, and a transfer to Cairo International Airport at the scheduled time.
