A representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, handles the formalities and takes the family to a family-friendly hotel in a private vehicle. The rest of the day is free.
Your private Egyptologist takes you to the Great Pyramids of Giza for Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos, and then close up to the Great Sphinx. A short camel ride around the pyramids is included. In the afternoon the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, with its mummies, its statuary and the treasures from Tutankhamun's tomb. Lunch at a local restaurant in between.
Check out after breakfast and take the short flight to Sharm El Sheikh, then a transfer to your beachfront resort on the Red Sea. The rest of the day is the pool or the water.
A full day at leisure. The snorkelling here needs nothing more than a mask and is genuinely world-class; for the rest of the family there is sand, sun, and the option of a glass-bottom boat, quad biking or a desert safari.
A flight north after breakfast. Your guide meets you and transfers you to your hotel, and the evening is yours to rest or to see more of the city.
An early flight to Upper Egypt. Philae Temple first, built for Isis and set on its own island. Then a boat along the Nile to a traditional Nubian village for the painted houses, the crafts and the hospitality, which is a side of Egypt no temple can show you. You board the cruise afterwards.
Sailing north to Kom Ombo Temple, the twin temple built for Sobek and Horus. Then on to Edfu, and a horse-drawn carriage from the mooring to the Temple of Horus, among the best-preserved ancient temples in Egypt. A quiet evening back on board.
Across the river to the royal necropolis. The Valley of the Kings comes first, where you go down inside tombs cut into the hillside and painted from end to end. The Temple of Hatshepsut follows, terraced into the cliffs, and the Colossi of Memnon stand alone in the fields beyond it. Back to the boat for lunch and an easy afternoon.
Disembarkation after breakfast, then Karnak, a vast complex of columns and sacred halls, and Luxor Temple. A transfer to the airport and a flight to Cairo, where you check in for the last evening in Egypt.
