ITINERARY

  • 1 Arrival in Cairo

A representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, sees you through the formalities and transfers you privately to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to recover from the flight.

    • Overnight: Cairo
  • 2 Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum

Your first full day is a private tour of the Giza Plateau — the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple — followed by the Grand Egyptian Museum.

    • Meals: Breakfast
    • Overnight: Cairo
  • 3 The Egyptian Museum, the Citadel and Islamic Cairo

A deeper day in the city. The Egyptian Museum holds one of the largest collections of Egyptian antiquities anywhere; from there you go up to the Citadel of Saladin and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, finishing at the Refaai and Sultan Hassan mosques, which face each other across a single square.

  • 4 Fly to Aswan — Philae, the High Dam and a Nubian village

After breakfast and check-out you fly to Aswan. Philae Temple comes first, built for Isis and relocated stone by stone to Agilkia Island when the dam threatened it, then the High Dam itself. The afternoon is spent in a Nubian village on the riverbank.

    • Meals: Breakfast
    • Overnight: Aswan
  • 5 Overland to Luxor and the West Bank

A private transfer up the Nile valley to Luxor, then straight into the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings, where generations of pharaohs were buried in painted tombs, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and a stop at the Colossi of Memnon.

    • Meals: Breakfast
    • Overnight: Luxor
  • 6 The East Bank, then on to Hurghada

The morning covers Luxor's two great temples — Karnak, with its Hypostyle Hall and sacred lake, and Luxor Temple in the middle of town. Afterwards a private transfer takes you across to Hurghada on the Red Sea.

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • 8 A second free day

Another full day at your own pace — water sports, the coral reefs, or the resort and nothing more demanding than that.
