Five days entirely in Cairo: the Giza Plateau, the Grand Egyptian Museum, the royal mummies, the Citadel of Saladin and Old Cairo, with private guides.
You are met at Cairo International Airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to settle in before the sightseeing starts.
A private guided morning on the Giza Plateau — the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx. Lunch at a good local restaurant, then on to the Grand Egyptian Museum for the afternoon.
The morning is spent at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, which holds thousands of antiquities covering the whole span of Egyptian history. After lunch you move to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where the royal mummies are displayed in a purpose-built gallery — a very different experience from seeing them among crowds.
Up to the Salah El-Din Citadel and the Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque, then down into Old Cairo for its Coptic and Islamic landmarks, including the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. The day finishes in Khan El Khalili, where the right approach is to get slightly lost and stop for tea.
Breakfast and some leisure time at the hotel before a private transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
