ITINERARY

  • 1 Arrival in Cairo

    A representative meets you as you land at Cairo International Airport, helps with the formalities and transfers you to your hotel. The rest of the day is for settling in.

  • 2 Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum

    After breakfast you meet your Egyptologist guide and head to the Pyramids of Giza — the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the Pyramid of Chephren and the smaller Pyramid of Mykerinus — then stand in front of the Sphinx and visit the Valley Temple beside it. The Grand Egyptian Museum follows.

  • 3 The Egyptian Museum, the Citadel and Khan El Khalili

    A day through Islamic and medieval Cairo. It begins at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, then goes up to the Salah El Din Citadel and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, with lunch at a local restaurant before the bazaar.

  • 4 Fly to Luxor and the East Bank

    A transfer to Cairo Airport and the flight to Luxor, going straight into the East Bank on arrival: the enormous Karnak complex, with its pylons, sanctuaries and forest of columns, and then Luxor Temple.

  • 5 Balloon at sunrise, the West Bank, then Cairo

    An early start for a hot air balloon over Luxor, which is the best way there is to understand the geography — the green strip, the desert, and the tombs and temples scattered between them. After landing you explore the West Bank, starting in the Valley of the Kings where Egypt's most powerful rulers were laid to rest, then the mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and the towering Colossi of Memnon, before transferring to Luxor Airport for the flight back to Cairo.
