Five days on the wooden Akhnaton dahabiya from Esna to Aswan, stopping at El Kab, Edfu, Gebel el-Silsila, Kom Ombo and the camel-trading town of Daraw.
Our representative collects you in Luxor and drives you south to Esna, where you board the Akhnaton and lunch is served. The dahabiya then sails towards El-Kab, and the afternoon is simply the river — fresh air, low waves, and the bank going by. Dinner and the first night moored near El-Kab.
The morning goes to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, built for the falcon-headed god and among the most complete anywhere in Egypt. Lunch is served as the sun gets high, and in the afternoon the boat carries on to Ramadi Island, where it moors for the night. Dinner by lantern light.
Breakfast on deck, then a short sail to Gebel el-Silsila, where you walk among rock-cut chapels and monuments raised for Seti I, Ramesses II, Merenptah and Horemheb. After lunch the boat moves on to Maniha, which is a quiet stretch of water and nothing else, and is all the better for it.
Sailing after breakfast to Kom Ombo, and ashore for the double temple of Sobek and Haroeris. Then on to Daraw, which for centuries was the stopping point for camel caravans coming north out of Sudan and still holds a market. By evening the boat moors near El Herdiab Island, within reach of Aswan, with dinner on board.

A last breakfast as the trip winds up. You disembark at Aswan and our representative transfers you to any address in the city.
