The Adonis runs two sailings between Luxor and Aswan: four nights north from Aswan, and five nights south from Luxor every Thursday.
A representative meets you on arrival at Aswan and takes you aboard. After check-in and lunch, the touring begins with the High Dam, which controls the flow of the whole river, then a motorboat across to the Temple of Philae, built for Isis. The Unfinished Obelisk closes the afternoon. Dinner on board with the river outside.
Breakfast while cruising north to Kom Ombo, a riverside town whose twin temple is dedicated to Sobek the crocodile deity and Horus the Elder, the falcon god, in two symmetrical halves. The Crocodile Museum next door holds the mummified animals found nearby. Lunch back on board as the boat sails on towards Edfu.
A horse-drawn carriage after breakfast to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, among the most perfectly preserved temples in Egypt, where the pylons, reliefs and statuary set out the long struggle between Horus and Seth. Back aboard and on to Luxor past villages and palm groves, and in the afternoon the Karnak Temple Complex with its Hypostyle Hall and sacred lake, and then Luxor Temple in the late light.
Breakfast and check-out, then across to the necropolis of ancient Thebes. The Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs lie in decorated tombs; the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut carved into the limestone cliffs; and finally the Colossi of Memnon, which once guarded Amenhotep III's temple. A transfer onward in Luxor or to the airport afterwards.
You board before lunch and settle into your cabin. The afternoon starts at Karnak, a complex that records centuries of Egyptian history and devotion in stone, and continues to Luxor Temple, built around the idea of renewal and glowing in the warm afternoon sun. Dinner back on board.
The West Bank after breakfast: the Valley of the Kings, with royal tombs covered in vivid hieroglyphics and a guide to explain what the burial rituals were actually for, then the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on board as the boat goes through the Esna Lock and continues towards Edfu.
A carriage after breakfast to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, whose columns and carvings record divine battles at a scale that takes an hour to walk. Sailing on to Kom Ombo for the double temple and the Crocodile Mummification Museum beside it, where the preserved animals explain more about ancient belief than most inscriptions do. Dinner and entertainment on board as the boat continues towards Aswan.
A guided morning: the High Dam, with Lake Nasser behind it, then a motorboat to the Temple of Philae, built for Isis, and the Unfinished Obelisk in the granite quarries. The afternoon is free.
