The MS Crown Jewel is a five-star boat with a pool and a large sun deck, sailing five days from Luxor to Aswan with visits to Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae.
You are welcomed aboard at Luxor and lunch is served. The afternoon covers Karnak, the largest religious complex in Egypt, entered along its avenue of sphinxes, and then Luxor Temple, which was begun by one king and added to by pharaoh after pharaoh for centuries afterwards. Back on board for dinner, with the lit East Bank alongside.
Across the river after breakfast to the Valley of the Kings, where the royal tombs are hidden deep in the desert hills, then the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut built into the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari, and a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon. Back on board and the ship sails for Edfu through the Esna Lock.
Edfu Temple in the morning, one of the most complete in Egypt and built for the falcon god Horus. Lunch on board as the voyage continues, and in the afternoon the Temple of Kom Ombo — a rare dual temple for Sobek and Horus the Elder, laid out symmetrically, with ancient medical instruments carved into the stone. An easy evening as the boat sails on towards Aswan.
You arrive at Aswan and start with the High Dam, which controls the flow of the whole river. Then the Unfinished Obelisk, still lying in the quarry it was cut from, and the Temple of Philae, built for Isis and moved to keep it clear of the water. The last evening on board comes with entertainment and the river.
Breakfast on board, and a last look at the river before you disembark.
