A representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, takes you through the arrival formalities and drives you to your 5-star hotel in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Check in and take the evening off.
Your private Egyptologist takes you to the Pyramids of Giza, the last of the seven wonders of the ancient world still standing, for Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos and then the Sphinx. A camel ride near the pyramids is included. In the afternoon, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt's newest cultural landmark, where the display technology is as much a part of the visit as the objects. Lunch at a local restaurant, then a free evening.
A flight south after breakfast, and straight to Philae Temple, built for Isis on its island. You board your five-star boat afterwards for three nights on the river, with lunch on board and the sundeck for the rest of the afternoon.
Sailing to Kom Ombo Temple, built for two gods at once — Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the Elder — with each given an identical half. On to Edfu and the Temple of Horus, reached by horse-drawn carriage and remarkably well preserved. Dinner on board as the boat sails on towards Luxor.
Across the river to the Valley of the Kings, where Egypt's most powerful pharaohs were buried in tombs cut deep into the rock. Then the Temple of Hatshepsut, among the most striking pieces of architecture the ancient world produced, and the Colossi of Memnon, the twin statues of Amenhotep III. Back on board for lunch and a free afternoon.
You disembark after breakfast for the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious structure ever built, and its hypostyle hall and sacred lake. The Avenue of Sphinxes connects it to Luxor Temple. Afterwards a private vehicle takes you to Hurghada on the Red Sea, about four hours, and you check in to your beachfront resort.
A full day at leisure on the Red Sea. Swim, sit on the beach, or take an optional excursion — snorkelling, scuba diving, or a desert safari inland.
Another day at the resort: fresh seafood, the spa, or the water. Nothing is scheduled.
A transfer to Hurghada Airport after breakfast and a short flight to Cairo. Check in to your hotel and take the rest of the day at your own pace.
The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square in the morning, whose collection of antiquities has no equal anywhere. Then the Salah El-Din Citadel, the medieval fortress on the hill above the city, and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali inside it, better known as the Alabaster Mosque. A farewell lunch closes the day.
A last breakfast, check out, and a transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
