Watch the 2 August 2027 total eclipse from the Temple of Philae in Aswan, then sail the Nile north to Luxor. Three nights in Cairo and three on the river.
You are greeted at Cairo International Airport, taken through the arrival procedures and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.
The Great Pyramids of Giza after breakfast, with the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx. The Grand Egyptian Museum follows, where the complete Tutankhamun collection sits alongside thousands of other objects.
An early flight to Aswan, then straight out to the Temple of Philae for the solar eclipse of 2 August 2027. Watching it from an island temple built for Isis, with the Nile on every side, is a very different proposition from watching it in a town. You board your cruise afterwards.
Breakfast while the boat sails north to Kom Ombo, where the temple is built as a perfect mirror image so that Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder each hold half of it. The afternoon is spent on the sundeck as the valley slides past.
The Temple of Horus at Edfu in the morning, the most complete temple left standing in Egypt. You sail on to Luxor over lunch and spend the afternoon on the East Bank: the Karnak complex with its columns and sacred lake, then Luxor Temple.
Breakfast, disembarkation, and across to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Afterwards you transfer to Luxor Airport for the flight to Cairo.
Breakfast, check out, and a transfer to Cairo International Airport for your departure.
