Eleven days: Cairo, a five-star Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, then three all-inclusive nights in Hurghada on the Red Sea, with private guides.
You are met at Cairo International Airport, helped through the arrival formalities and driven to your hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. The evening is free.
Your private Egyptologist takes you to Giza after breakfast for the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos — the last surviving wonder of the ancient world — and the Sphinx below them. Lunch is at a local restaurant, and the afternoon belongs to the Grand Egyptian Museum.
A transfer to Cairo Airport and a flight to Aswan, where your guide takes you to the Temple of Philae on Agilika Island, built for the goddess Isis. You then board your Nile cruise, have lunch on board and begin sailing.
Breakfast on board while the boat sails to Kom Ombo, where the temple is split evenly between Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the falcon god. You continue to Edfu and take a horse-drawn carriage up to the Temple of Horus, among the best-preserved temples in Egypt.
The day is given to Luxor's West Bank. You start in the Valley of the Kings, where the New Kingdom pharaohs were buried in painted tombs cut deep into the hillside, then move on to the Temple of Hatshepsut, terraced into the cliffs at Deir El Bahari, and finish at the Colossi of Memnon standing alone in the fields.
You disembark after breakfast and spend the morning on the East Bank at the Karnak complex and Luxor Temple. A private vehicle then takes you across to Hurghada on the Red Sea, a drive of roughly four hours, where you check in at your beach resort.
Nothing scheduled. The reefs immediately offshore are among the best in the world, so snorkelling, diving or a boat trip are all easy to arrange — or you can stay by the sea and do none of it.
Another full day to use as you like, at the resort or exploring the town at your own pace.
Breakfast, check out, and a transfer to Hurghada Airport for the flight to Cairo. You are met on arrival and taken to your hotel, with the evening free.
A last full day in Cairo. The Egyptian Museum comes first, with thousands of objects on display — note that the full Tutankhamun collection is no longer held here. From there to the Citadel of Salah El-Din and the Mohamed Ali Mosque at the heart of Islamic Cairo, finishing in the lanes of Khan El Khalili bazaar.
Breakfast, then a transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
